1960's "HAPPENING" EVENTS: THREE & FOUR DIMENSIONAL EXHIBITIONS
In the 1960's Lynda staged a number of three dimensional exhibitions, in which the participants walk through the paintings and experiences them as a symbolic 'Journey through Life', and its all encompassing nature, as embodied in the exhibition itself.
In the mid to late 1960's, McNeur's work was cutting edge, in that she developed this way of presenting into the genre of the experimental and tumultuous times of the 60's, into "Happening" Events, in which music, sound, and performance art was included to enhance the emotional and sensatory experience of the art, both three and four dimensionally, in sound, time and space, experientially.
These Events were staged in Philadelphia, Ohio, traveling elsewhere in the US, as well as in New York City. In particular, at the NYC Vivian Beaumont theatre of Lincoln Centre, and the cutting edge experimental St Clement's Church on 46th Street off 9th Avenue in 'Hell's Kitchen', in which Time magazine reviewed and included an image from it in 1968.
Whilst these two conservative gentlemen of the 60's (in the image above), seem somewhat bemused by the exhibition, New York audiences engaged as enthusiastically in the three dimensional artistic spaces, as they did in all that was Happening in NYC and the world, during these exciting and amazing days!

In 1956, her painting series on "Life Journey" depicting ones life and relationship with the "Creator", was exhibited in the LaBaudt Galleries in San Francisco. This was received with marked appreciation by the public and critic, resulting in much philosophical and religious discussion. Four other series were also painted and exhibited in leading colleges and churches in the United States.
Lynda McNeur Wismer's paintings were also shown in group exhibitions in the San Francisco Museum of Art, the Richmond Art Gallery, and a number of smaller galleries in the North California area. She was represented in over 200 private and church collections in the US.
